Sound - Lighting - PowerPoint

This vital ministry serves the needs of our Parish community in Sound, Lighting and Power Point. The members of the AV team must have some computer knowledge, especially in Power Point operation and the ability of listening to, and controlling sound levels. Basic AV training is available to all volunteers.

Altar Society

Description:  Provides clean altar linens for Liturgical celebrations. Be trained in the proper rinsing, pre-treating stains, laundering and ironing of small altar cloths.

Requirements: Be able to pick up linens and return them to the sacristy after proper washing and ironing of the linens.

Time Commitment: Approximately 3 hours at your home.

Helpful Attributes:  Be able to perform a "Martha" chore with a "Mary" heart. Additional help is always needed.

Quiet Angels

 DESCRIPTION

· Cleaning of Church/Chapel and auxiliary rooms

· Laundering and ironing of small linens; altar server cassocks and surplices

· Sewing – making linens used for liturgies; making baptismal bibs; assembling various fabrics used for the liturgical seasons.

· Care of plants and floral arrangements

REQUIREMENTS

· Desire to serve our Lord and the parish community

TIME COMMITMENT

· Cleaning of the Church:  About one hour per week (depending on the number of volunteers) on Thursdays,  at 7:45 a.m.  (after the 7 a.m. Mass.)

· Laundering and Ironing:  May be taken home but must be returned in a timely manner.

· Sewing:  as needed

ACTIVITIES

Dusting pews, floors and other flat surfaces; vacuuming auxiliary rooms; cleaning glass walls; maintaining cleanliness of holy water fonts; sweeping entry ways; changing out envelopes for various special collections; changing out missalettes as needed; watering plants and replacing as needed.

Art/Environment

Description: Seasonal.  Arrange floral, greenery, banners, and other décor that is appropriate for the various liturgical seasons and feasts.

Requirements: Volunteers should have flexibility, physical strength, and be able to work as a team.                          

Experience Necessary: Knowledge of plants, background in art and design, and have a sense of aesthetic balance

Training:  Individual training with periodic meetings for updates.

Time:  Approximately 1- 4 hours (as needed) depending on the season or feast. A total four – six times per year.

Music Ministry 1

Description: The music ministry consists of the traditional choir with cantors, a contemporary music ensemble, and a youth ensemble.  Members of these ensembles provide music for liturgies and encourage the congregation to sing as part of their praise of God.

Requirements: Love of music, some musical ability, and a desire to praise God through music.  Commitment to attend scheduled rehearsals.

Time Commitment: All ensembles meet for rehearsal for 1 to 2 hours each week.

Helpful Attributes: Vocal or instrumental training is desirable but not required.

Activities: The traditional choir sings at the 11am Sunday Mass; the contemporary ensemble sings at the 9 AM Mass; the youth ensemble sings at the 6 PM Sunday Mass.  All groups may be asked to participate in other church events.
