What is an Advent Jesse Tree?jessetree

The Jesse Tree is a favorite and traditional 'Christmas countdown' activity during the Advent Season. It is a meaningful way to prepare the family for the coming of Baby Jesus.
In the Bible, Jesse was King David's father and Jesus' earthly ancestor. The Jesse Tree is named from the Book of Isaiah: 'A shoot will come out of the stock of Jesse, and a branch out of his roots will bear fruit.' (Isaiah 11:1)
To make a Jesse Tree, an ornament is placed on a tree or chart every day from the first Sunday of Advent until Christmas Eve. The ornaments are typically icons or symbols representing a person, prophecy or passage from the Bible. A Scripture passage, prayer or reflection is shared while the tree is decorated each day.
Essentially, the Jesse Tree tells the story of God's love for us from Creation to the birth of Jesus. Full article here
