Work Day

What Happens at Work Day?

There are two scheduled, planned work days a year, spring and fall.  A notice goes in bulletin prior to day, and you are invited to attend.  Very little experience or gardening knowledge is necessary, but all are invited.  Participants are assigned to jobs based on their ability and skills, either outside or in. This includes, under direction, pruning, weeding, installing new plantings and improving soil. Those working outdoors will do some manual labor or may use power tools. Job will be fit to the worker's ability. If you are unable to work outdoors, please call us - we have many chores that can be completed indoors as well.

Anyone wishing to take responsibility for an assigned area on a year round basis can contact me and we will discuss it.  Linda Culhane 530-1250 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Fish Fry

In the season of Lent, St. Catherine of Siena holds two Fish Fries on separate Friday evenings. The delicious fish is supplied by Ward's Seafood, parishioner. These annual Lenten gatherings have enabled people to enjoy a meal while meeting members of the community of St. Catherine of Siena.

We are always in need of volunteers who do well in following an organized system of food serving, plating, standing in a sometimes warm kitchen, and meeting new people. There is also a large group of volunteers needed to set up, serve, and clean-up on those two Fridays. Usually a pre-meeting is held a week before the first Fish Fry.

Watch for notices in the Parish Bulletin and on this website.

Time commitment: Approximately 4 hours each evening.
