Originating in Milan around the year 1530, the 40 Hours Devotion is a special period of continuous prayer made before the Blessed Sacrament, with the focus of the devotion being the Holy Eucharist. The 40 hours of prayer traditionally signifies the “40 hour period” from our Lord’s burial until his resurrection.
