What are Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion?
Description
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHC) are members of the parish community who have received the sacraments of initiation and are prayerful people. They may assist the clergy in distribution of Holy Communion at Mass, and visit the homebound, aged, and sick so that they may receive the Eucharist and remain connected with the parish community.
Requirements
Registered parishioner, having received all sacraments of initiation, in good-standing with the Church, striving to live in the state of grace.
Training
Diocesan training is available once a year. Local procedures training is held as needed. Safe Environment training if involved in outreach ministry.
Time Commitment
For Mass ministry, arrive 15 minutes prior. For outreach ministry, one-half hour to two hours depending on facility being visited. Meetings are held five times a year, and you will be notified by email.
