FAST House Meetings, hosted by the Parish Justice Commission
Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm (Room 1 at SCOS)
& Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm (Zoom/phone)
What issues keep you up at night? If you can answer “none” then you are indeed fortunate, at a time when thousands have lost their jobs due to the COVID pandemic, and now face eviction because they have no money for rent. Some people are facing a serious illness with no health insurance. The list of challenges is endless.
Catholic Social Teaching reminds us that Jesus challenges us to practice mercy, sharing our resources with those in need. Our Church teaches that we also should practice social justice, removing the root causes of the problems. Justice means making structural change, like expanding access to affordable housing and improving education.
Our parish Justice Commission, working with other congregations, has brought major structural changes to our County including nearly $100 million to create new affordable housing and introducing restorative practices into schools, just two of many improvements made for Pinellas County.
We ask you to help with justice concerns by attending a gathering where we share issues that “keep us up at night”. We discuss how we can help our public officials address serious problems. You can attend either in person or virtually, whichever way you are comfortable. The first in-person House Meeting will take place in Room 1 on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00 pm. The second House Meeting will take place over Zoom and telephone on Wednesday, September 30th at 7:00 pm.
Please call the Parish Office at (727) 531-7721 or email@example.com so we can provide the information you will need to participate.
