NEW Updated Mass Procedures
As we continue to learn more about the Delta variant of the Coronavirus, let us demonstrate charity for the people around us and do what we can for the health and welfare of all. On May 22, 2021, updated guidelines were announced by Bishop Gregory Parkes for the prevention of COVID-19. These guidelines are still in place. This guidance includes in part:
Parishes are encouraged to comply with the local government’s guidance on face coverings. Since the use of face coverings is encouraged to prevent community spread of COVID-19 (per CDC Guidelines), parishioners are encouraged to wear either a mask or a face shield when entering and exiting the church and when processing to and from Communion.
- July 3-4: Passing the collection baskets resumed for people in the pews.
- July 4: Children’s collection began at 9:00 am and 6:00 pm Mass.
- August 1: Offertory Procession begins with servers and gift bearers
- August 1: Those wishing to receive Communion on the tongue can go to any line anywhere in the church.
- September 12: Children invited into the sanctuary for 9:00 am Mass homily.
Thank you for showing respect to others who gather at our parish for worship. Bishop Gregory Parkes has issued some particular dispensations for the faithful who may find themselves in specific circumstances. Details can be found on the diocesan website at dosp.org/coronavirus.

At the Chrism Mass on March 30th, Bishop Gregory Parkes made a big announcement: “It’s my intention that the general dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass issued last March will be lifted effective on the vigil of Pentecost, which is the weekend of May 22 and 23rd. We will be updating and providing suggested protocols and guidelines to our parishes so that they remain among the safest places to be.”
The bishop has written a letter about the general dispensation and a list of circumstances that would necessitate a particular dispensation from the Sunday and Holy Day Mass obligation, which is available in English and Spanish. To view the video of the bishop’s homily, click here or below.

Procedimiento Actualizados Para Las Misas
- 3-4 de julio: Se reinicia la colecta con las canastas entre las personas sentadas a los bancos.
- 4 de julio: La colecta por niños se llevará a cabo en las misas dominicales de las 9 am y las 6 pm.
- 1 de agosto: Se inicia la Procesión del Ofertorio con los servidores y los portadores de las ofrendas
- 1 de agosto: Los feligreses que deseen recibir comunión en la boca pueden ir en cualquiera de las filas en la iglesia.
- 12 de septiembre: Los niños estarán invitados al santuario en la misa de las 9 am para escuchar la homilía.
